What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced operating room nurse with experience in orthopedics – THA/TKA, to join our dynamic team in Laval!
Preoperative Phase
- Preparation of surgical equipment specific to orthopedic surgery: THA, TKA, UKA.
- Verification of the traceability of medical devices
- Patient reception and verification of identity, medical file, and consent
- Preparation of the operating room according to aseptic standards
Intraoperative phase
The nurse can fulfill several roles:
Internal service:
- Transmits instruments to the surgeon
- Anticipates the steps of the procedure
- Ensures sterility and organization of the surgical fields Surgical procedures
- Participates in the surgical tally and accounting
- Anticipates the steps of the procedure
External Service:
- Opens equipment in a sterile manner in the internal department
- Manages unforeseen events during the procedure (missing equipment, emergencies)
- Maintains communication with other departments
- Participates in the surgical tally and accounting
- Documents surgical notes
Technical Assistance (if trained and authorized):
- Assists the surgeon according to the practice authorized by the OIIQ and OIAQ
- Maintaining retractors, aiding hemostasis, assisting with intraoperative mobilization, etc.
- Patient reception and verification of identity, medical file, and consent
Postoperative Phase
- Patient Monitoring beforehand with the anesthesia team until transfer to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Transmission of Information to the Post-Anesthesia Care Team
- Cleaning of the operating room beforehand with the team and replenishment of equipment
- Documentation and Traceability of procedures and devices used
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy and surgical techniques related to Orthopedics
- Mastery of aseptic and safety protocols
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Vigilance and rigor in task execution
Desired Profile
You possess:
- More than 2 years of experience in the operating room, specifically in orthopedics (THR/TKR)
- A completed DEC or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- A valid license of OIIQ
- Excellent command of French, and an intermediate level of English
- A desire to be actively involved in a stimulating environment
- Strong human, relational, and professional skills
The following will be considered assets:
- Experience in surgical assistance
- A good knowledge of CSA, PCI and standards ISO
Compensation
Competitive, up to 10% to 15% higher than that offered by the OIIQ
