Being a speech-language pathologist means contributing to the prevention, development, maintenance, and restoration of students' communication skills to enable them to fully participate in their learning and school life.
On a daily basis, you intervene in prevention, screening, and assessment with students experiencing difficulties related to language, speech, or voice. You implement tailored intervention plans in collaboration with the school team and families to support students' communication skills.
Responsibilities
Analyze the needs of the student who presents communication problems and assess hearing, language, voice, and speech disorders;
Develop a treatment and intervention plan in speech-language pathology or audiology tailored to the student's abilities;
Participate in the development and implementation of the speech-language pathology service while respecting educational and administrative frameworks, both at the level of the institutions and the school service center;
Contribute to the screening and recognition of students facing difficulties, with a focus on prevention and intervention, and collaborate with other team members for the coordination of interventions.
Requirements
Be a member of the Ordre des orthophonistes et audiologistes du Québec (OOAQ)
Have strong analytical, observational, and synthesis skills;
Possess listening, communication, and dialogue skills;
Demonstrate a collaborative attitude with various stakeholders;
Exhibit human, relational, and psychological qualities;
Proof of success in the French SEL test or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the enhanced French exam of the CSSMB within three months of hiring at the latest.
